Steve Bruce is without a clutch of players for Newcastle United’s visit to Turf Moor – and Jonjo Shelvey’s also struggling with an injury.

Allan Saint-Maximin is out of tomorrow’s game against Burnley after suffering a hamstring injury in last weekend’s 2-1 win over Southampton, and Bruce will also be without Ciaran Clark, Matt Ritchie, Jamaal Lascelles and Ki Sung-yueng.

“We’ve got a few out – and a couple of question marks,” said head coach Bruce.

Bruce is also sweating on the fitness of Shelvey – who is the club’s leading score with five goals – and Miguel Almiron ahead of the Burnley game. He said: “Shelvey’s got a bit of a sore calf and Almiron’s tight in his hamstring. We’ll see how they are today.”

Newcastle are 11th in the table with 22 points. Burnley are 13th in the Premier League.
