When runners took to South Tyneside streets

It's just as well there was no ice on the road when these runners took to the streets in years gone by.

For the ones that have actually started seem to be setting a cracking pace.

The youngest runners here were pictured in the 1970s, but the others come from an earlier era, especially those at the bottom of the page.

What a smashing photo it is, showing runners lining up for the start of a race in Westoe Road.
