The Barbour factory outlet store in Jarrow has confirmed it is now open to shoppers following the easing of lockdown restrictions on April 12.

The popular Barbour factory store on the Bede Trading Estate has reopened, with customers now able to take advantage of the latest discount offers on its famous jackets, clothing and accessories.

Staff at the factory outlet confirmed that coronavirus safety measures remain in place as before, with customers required to wear masks and sanitise hands on arrival before following a one way system around the store.

For almost a hundred years, South Shields brand Barbour has been making its traditional wax jackets in its South Tyneside HQ, as well as rewaxing and repairing jackets to give a new lease of life to old favourites.

The brand has been in the North East for 126 years, with founder John Barbour opening his first store in Market Place, South Shields, in 1894 selling oilskins to sailors, fishermen and mariners to protect them from the worst of the North Sea weather.

Yes, there is free parking available at the store’s car park.

What are the opening hours?

Monday to Friday, opening hours are from 9.30am to 5.30pm.

Sunday opening from 10.30am to 4.30pm.

What Covid measures are in place?

Customers must wear a mask and on entry will be asked to sanitise their hands.

A one way system is in operation throughout the shop.
